To complete this rapprochement, they had to deal with Clara’s despair. It was too much for her.

She was too young to accept calmly both the disappearance of her loved brother as the family debacle slowly approaching. Even a sweet girl, it was not easy to deal with her anger at the whole situation, and they only achieved some success after she realized they both were in fact back together.

But this resumption of family unity was the only positive point throughout the crisis. Although valuable, it was not enough to prevent the worst.

More than a year later, financially bankrupt, with their son hopelessly missing and with no hopes to find him due to the messages received, Américo and Vera Lúcia were left with no other alternative than saving what they could and leave, trying to escape the shame and recover something that could be called a life.

They needed to move on. After all they still had a daughter to raise. They moved from city and state, leaving few clues and almost no longing.
